Revisions to Select Agents Regulations:
What It Means for the MSU Research Community

Institutional Reporting of Select Agent Possession

The ORCBS completed the federal reporting requirement on behalf of MSU in October of 2002 per the regulatory requirements. This report was based on inventory surveys distributed to 30 departments identified as having the potential for biological agent or toxin possession. These surveys were distributed to and gathered from professorial personnel by way of their department chairs. Although this information was comprehensive at the time of reporting, it is critical that new personnel be queried regarding their potential for select agent possession or use before these individuals arrive at MSU.
